For this series I decided to interview dozens of people (mostly friends and family) about their greatest fears and phobias. Each drawing is based on a story that was shared with me and is a fear that has been given an actual diagnostic name by the American Psychiatric Association.
The ones included here are:
chilopodophobia (fear of centipedes), acrophobia (heights), thermophobia (heat), maskaphobia (masks), katagelophobia (embarrassment), queunliskanphobia (saliva), and globophobia (the fear of balloons popping)
This was for a gender studies project. Some studies of species who mate for life in the animal kingdom.
This project is based off of Homer's The Iliad. We read the text and then had to choose a section of the story that interested us. I chose to recreate the battles of Diomedes. This character gets blessed by the goddess Athena and fights the immortals Aphrodite, Apollo, and Ares respectively.
Keeping with an ancient Greek aesthetic, the characters are designed to imitate black figure pottery.
Something I created for my best friend’s wedding invitations
These were pieces I made for Domestic Abuse Awareness month. The first one being digital and the second one in traditional oil paints.
